Biozyme
The Fermented Vegetable Extract
Biozyme is a powerful postbiotic made from the fermentation and maturation of 40 different vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Rich in easily digestible active ingredients, Biozyme may help improve constipation, alcohol metabolism, and skin condition.
What is Biozyme?
Biozyme is a fermented vegetable extract that uses a proprietary Bacillus strain named Bacillus Biozyme to ferment 40 different vegetables, fruits, and herbs for 3 months. After 3 months of fermentation the bacteria is removed and the medium is left to mature for 3 more months allowing for further break down of bioactive ingredients such as peptides into amino acids and large polysaccharides into smaller oligosaccharides allowing for easier absorption. The medium is then concentrated into a paste that can easily be diluted and formulated into beverage and food applications. A powdered version of Biozyme is also available for tablet applications.

Research on Biozyme
The Effects of Biozyme on Alcohol Metabolism
In a human study 21 healthy men and women took two crossover alcohol-intake trials. Participants were given either 100ml of water or 100ml of Biozyme in the morning on an empty stomach followed by 30-65g of straight whiskey (43% ethanol) within 30 minutes. Breath alcohol concentration after alcohol intake were analyzed.
Results showed a significant effect of Biozyme administration in the changes of human blood alcohol and acetaldehyde (AcH) concentrations after whiskey consumption. In particular, the reduction effect on blood AcH concentration was remarkable—approximately 45% lower compared to the control group one hour after consumption—and this effect was found to continue for up to four hours. Moreover, it was shown that not only blood levels but also breath alcohol concentration decreased with BIOZYME administration.
Considering these concentration-reducing effects, it is suggested that BIOZYME may possibly enhance not only alcohol oxidation (via alcohol dehydrogenase, ADH) but also the acetaldehyde oxidation system.
The Effects of Biozyme on Skin and Digestion
20 females (20-39yrs) who tend to have constipation were given 20mL Biozyme Drink (Biozyme 80%, water 20%) twice a day for 4 weeks. Subjects were evaluated for bowel movement and skin condition.
Results showed significant improvement in bowel movement with Biozyme intake with the frequency and amount of stool increasing, showing efficacy of Biozyme to improve constipation.
Subjects also found improvement in dry skin, skin condition for make-up, application of cosmetic products and pimples. We predict that when subjects suffer from constipation, harmful substances in the stool may be absorbed into the blood and cause rough skin and pimples.
